About Us
Cancer Surveillance and Outcomes Research Team (CanSORT) investigators at the University of Michigan are conducting an NCI-sponsored research study to address challenges in individualizing breast cancer care. CancerDoctorsLikeMe is an interactive website to educate clinicians about breast cancer practice norms, patients’ experiences, and effective communication strategies.
As a medical professional that sees breast cancer patients, you are aware of the increasingly critical conversations that take place during a consultation. Topics such as contralateral prophylactic mastectomy (CPM) and patient risk perception of recurrence have more recently received high attention. At this time, there is a great need to better understand how patients and their doctors are discussing these significant topics during the consultation.
If you have questions about this research study, you may contact the Principal Investigator, Dr. Sarah Hawley, at the Department of Internal Medicine, 2800 Plymouth Road, Building 16/406E, University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109-2800, telephone 734-936-4787.
